Culture Tourism and Sport Consultations

Published on January 14, 2019

Today, tourism plays an important role in Ontario’s success. It is a $34 billion industry that supports hundreds of thousands of jobs and generates billions in economic activity in communities across Ontario. We also know that the tourism sector has the potential to grow to new heights in the years to come. The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport announced the development of a new Ontario Tourism Strategy, our government’s long-term vision for Ontario tourism. Our goal is to align our efforts with other government initiatives and meet the needs of our tourism operators and the tourists they serve.

I am pleased to announce that online consultations, an important step in developing the new strategy, officially launched on January 3, 2019, and will remain open until February 28, 2019.

As Ontario’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, I look forward to upholding our government’s plan to work for the people of Ontario, and work with you to make life better and help our communities thrive.

By working on solution-focused and consumer-focused strategies, we will strive to make the sector more sustainable, attract visitors and visitor spending, and keep them coming back again and again.

Please follow my ministry’s tweets and Facebook posts about the consultations. We want to increase Ontario’s prosperity and make Ontario a travel destination of choice.
